East County Fire & Rescue was formed on May 16, 2006 when Clark County Fire District # 1 merged into Clark County Fire District # 9. Fire District # 9 then petitioned the Board of County Commissioners to officially change our name to better reflect our Service Area: Eastern Clark County, Washington aka “East County”.
The District is a combination department and provides Fire Protection, Emergency Medical Response, Rope Rescue, Water Rescue, and Public Service Assistance to the unincorporated areas north of— and east of— the cities of Camas and Washougal. Approximately 45 Paid and Volunteer Fire Fighters, EMS Responders and Emergency Response Team Members respond to 900+ calls per year from their five fire stations. Other stations are served by On-Call Volunteer Firefighters who respond from home or work to pick-up apparatus and equipment for response to fire or medical emergencies and public service calls.
